“My Bossa Nova Summer” 1962 Police bust at ‘Fugs’ concert in G. Village
In 1962 protest was not high on anyone’s agenda. Certainly The civil rights protests were only noted by their inconspicuousness on the Village campus of NYU except to the left wing leftover from the 1930’s. Tuli Kupferberg, Ed Saunders, et al of the “Fugs” the name itself a protest in a way, were doing a venue on MacDougal Street, when I chanced upon and photographed this scene.
