Hardwick Spring Festival
Since yesterday wasn’t enough, today was Hardwick’s Spring Festival Day. It used to have to do with Tulips, back when those were cool, but now we don’t have tulips anymore so it’s just Spring Festival.
I was up at 7:30 and at Hardwick by 9. Audrey was with me. I met Kurt and set up the Float Cameras. David Mitchell has driven his pickup truck since we started doing this forever, but on Wednesday he said he wasn’t available. His son was going to State, so…
Audrey and I then set up my camera on the balcony of the Hardwick Inn.
Then I took my HD camera up to the Memorial Service, which happens right before the parade.
So much to do!
I then operated the camera during the parade for 40 minutes. Audrey was on the TV station’s small camera down on the street. She ignored it for part of the time when they started throwing candy.
So there I was, baking in the hot hot sun.
After the parade went by I slowly wrapped up all my gear. I took it up to the office, and boy was that convenient! To have our office in the same building as the parade review stand was such a dream.
Steph and Olivia and Errol showed up at this time. They had all gone to the morning kid’s radio show and made it to Hardwick in time for the parade. We had lunch at Connie’s Kitchen (also in the same building). Steph took the kids home and I put away equipment in the office and then went to the station’s office.
At the station I captured tapes and started the editing, but by 5 PM I was tired.
