Errol’s 4th Birthday
Errol turned 4 today. We woke up at about 7 AM, just minutes after he was born. Errol refused to accept that he was four because the party hadn’t happened yet. It seems that he feels that until he blew out the candles, he couldn’t be four yet.
We have a great time. There were 6 little boys here and 5 ‘big’ kids. Kadesha and Kasimir came up with Jen, and they brought Ben’s kids, Sid Ollie and I forget the teenager’s name. Sid is such a little cutie. He is as tall as Errol but isn’t yet 3 years old. Everything you ask him is ‘OK!’ Also attending were Riley and Parker, our next door neighbors from Cabot, and Kamena brought her grandchild Jeffrey and his friend Ezra. (Ezra is believed to be at the top end of the Autism spectrum and just a couple weeks ago his sibling, also a special needs kid, drowned in the bathtub! So he really needed to get out of the house…)
We have never had a boy-party before. It’s always been cadres of little girls. So this was really exciting and fun for all of us.
We got out our 76 plastic eggs and loaded them with chocolate. Audrey and Kadesha scattered them over about half an acre in the way-back yard.
The big kids went outside and the little kids all played in the living room for an hour, or so. They took turns riding Thunder, it was so cool! We served out fish sticks and french fries for a snack. Then it was cake and ice cream time. Audrey made mini-cup-cake brownies, so Stephanie stuck one candle in four of them to be his birthday ‘cake’.
Next up was presents. Errol was so happy. I got him a wooden-train-set crane. The other present he really liked were four little cars from Emme and a pair of gliders (that used to be balsa wood but are now thin styrofoam). He loved my present so much.
Then we all went outside for the Errol Egg Hunt! Each boy took a territory and collected all the eggs. They were everywhere! Finally he all hung out in the backyard while the boys played on our swing set and ate chocolate.
It was so fun!
