I need Dorothy’s ruby red slippers!

I took the girls to the final rehearsal today.  The plan was to only be there for about 45 minutes.

Audrey is not happy, she’s worried.  I think that Audrey’s nervousness about performing has to do with her preparedness.  Her anxiety about an upcoming show is proportionally connected to her knowing her part.

At the rehearsal she told Diana she didn’t want to do this, I went in and sat down with her on the couch and she started crying.  Diana moved on and Olivia got into the Purple People Eater costume.  As the rehearsal went on, Audrey go into it and she got up and started singing.

As we were getting ready to leave Diana prepared a Dorothy outfit for Audrey.  But she didn’t have Ruby Slippers in Audrey’s size.  So I took the girls into Montpelier looking for something that would work.  Our working plan was to go to a thrift store and find some beaters that fit and then slather white glue all over them and douse them in red sprinkles.

We went to two thrift stores and then went to the mall and looked into a shoe store.  Finally we went down the mall to PayLess and the only thing they had there was pink sparkly flats.  I had an idea so I got those (and a couple new pairs of shoes and socks for the girls), and then we went back downtown to the hardware store.  I bought a can of cherry red spray paint.

When we got home I took those shoes and lightly coated them with the red spray paint.  It worked pretty well, they were a dark pink, almost red, and the sparkles showed through.  Not bad!
