Busy time again

We’ve been working a lot recently, haven’t had much time to write.

A house came up for rent in Hardwick, right up the hill from the Office.  It’s tiny, but on a lot of land.  It’s really nice, but I don’t think they’ll rent to us.  They just bought it and spent a lot of money fixing things up.   The wife was less than thrilled when Steph told her we had three kids.  We haven’t heard back from several messages.  Oh, well.

I went to Dad’s house last Thursday, taking my camera and Audrey.  Dad did the Around the World slideshow and I recorded it and commented as well.

This weekend I spent Saturday and Sunday evening editing Green Mountain Nutcracker.  I got the first act almost done (except front titles) and last night I started putting Act 2 together.  I have to ‘synch the dailies’.

Each dance number has it’s own music cue, and each music cue starts at a slightly different time, so each ‘take’ (LS, MS and CU) start each number out of synch.  I have to cut each track after every number and re-synch the three takes to a common point (usually an orchestral percussion).  I have to synch to the music, using the scratch track from each camera.

Once the shots are synched up the first thing is to strip out all the Close Up layer, except for the really great shots.  The next layer down, being revealed as the CU layer is cut away, is the Medium Shot.  And when the MS is not wide enough, I can cut it back and reveal the base layer, the Wide Shot.  Just for fun I brought my Nikon still camera and had it get a full-wide shot.   I had to use it once in the first half when I needed an empty stage shot.  Both my MS and LS cameras were moving and getting nothing useable.
