I was going to take Audrey to her radio show.  We jumped in the Blue Volvo and headed out.  Out on the flats I noticed the Oil light was on. Hmm. That’s odd I just put oil in it recently… The Irving (D&L, now known as B&K) is closed because the B&K ran it into the ground by nickel/diming his customers, so no help there.  I drove up to Woodbury and pulled over to buy some oil.  First thing I noticed was a trail of rainbows on the road.  That’s not good… I pulled forward where I saw no rainbows and when I checked again, the rainbows had followed the car!  Well, that’s really not good!

I bought a quart and dumped it in and then told Audrey we were heading back to Hardwick.  I gave her the cell and told her to call the station as soon as she got signal to tell them we weren’t coming.  She got Uku and he agreed to stay on for another hour until Willis arrived.  As we came into town I decided to take it to George’s, so I told Audrey and Errol that I’d stop by the house and they should be prepared to leave the car quickly.  But when I got to the main intersection, I could hear the engine starting to rattle from lack of oil!  So I turned left and told the kids, change of plans.  I coasted the car as much as I could and rolled into George’s parking area.

I had Audrey take Errol home and I walked to the office where Stephanie was.  She was surprised to see me, of course.

You could see the oil smear down Main Street and how the traffic had spread it everywhere.

Now I really need to get the Red Volvo back on the road.  It starts and runs fine, but the battery is shot…
