Afternoon with all the kids
There I was writing on my MemoirSite when Audrey calls from the school, “Are you coming to pick us up?” Oh, right 12:50, not 1:50…
So I pack up some PB+J sandwiches, bundle Errol up in winter gear and we set off on a long day of errands. I dropped off a review DVD at a client’s, we went to the mailbox, then the Co-op, then the Price Chopper. We got a good amount of food now that the EBT card has finally been renewed. I can start making smoothies again and eating the good trail mix. Without smoothies and eating the chocolate-laced trail mixed I am back up to 230 lbs! Next we went to the ‘baby price chopper’, or the bread outlet store where loaves of bread are $2 instead of $4.50.
Finally we went up to the Berlin Mall. I’ve been feeling like a bad parent because the girls have very few socks. And Audrey needs indoor shoes for school, as she’s already outgrown the Converse All Stars I got her in the fall.
But first it was time to spend the $10 gift cards at Claires that gramma Kay gave them for X-mas. Audrey got a set of white suspenders with ribbon-bows down the back and Olivia got a little stuffed critter. Errol and I browsed the bookstore but they didn’t have anything I wanted.
We got the socks at one place, but they had only one pair of shoes in Audrey’s size and she didn’t like the lacing system. So we went to the sporting good store next door. Errol was running off to play on those coin-op kiddie rides, so I told Audrey to go in the store and ask for shoes in her size under $40. They had one pair and they were the demo model. The girl there was excellent. She was the store manager, too. Errol was NOT happy to be taken away from the coin-op riding devices, and so he screamed and cried for 45 minutes while we settled on Audrey’s shoes and bought them.
I was pretty beat on the way home. I called Steph and asked her to get dinner going. She said the community dinner was on, but I had had a long enough day.
