Mount Washington – Third Trip
Today was the third of three Annual Mount Washington trips. This was the first one starting in Hardwick.
Our neighbor Janette wondered why I was herding the kids into the car at 5 AM, just two weeks after we moved in. She wondered if I was taking the kids and leaving Stephanie, but she decided not based on the banter between me and the kids.
Again, we did the first stop on Home Stretch. I wanted to get video of the steam engine. Audrey wanted to go to Hairpin, but each time we tried the new location, the weather was terrible. Today was 50-50 cloudy, warmer and only a little windy.
It coincided that the lead bike rider got to my checkpoint right when the steam train was going up. I took Errol and Audrey to the trackside and Olivia volunteered to watch the bike riders and write down their numbers. When I got back to the car I called them in. I used my still camera to get the video and it had a high frame rate, so the video of the monkey-works is very detailed and not blurry.
We hung around the car, the girls found a culvert under the road and a pipe embedded next to it.
