Nutcracker 2011 – First Show

Poor Stephanie!  She got up at 7 AM and went to the radio station with Audrey to do their new Saturday morning show.  I stayed home with Olivia and Errol.  We didn’t plan well and I had to hustle up to Hardwick with the girls to get some equipment I needed for the show.

Hardwick Inn had it’s Open House and Steph and I did nothing for it.  We had wanted to put up a sign and Nutcracker poster, but we didn’t even get that done.  When I went to the office to get the gear I needed there was a good number of people milling about.

I called dad and he drove up for the show.  I got the girls there right on time, and I started setting up my cameras.  I used my Nikon still camera as a wide shot, just to see what it was like for a wide-shot master.  Dad got in for free as my ‘Production Assistant’.

I gave Mitt and Gerard the photo-still I pulled from the video of the Dress Rehearsal on Thursday.  It is gorgeous! The lighting on her was fantastic.  I showed the lighting guy the picture (Jeffery Salzberg) and I told him that his lighting was so good, even his work lights were gorgeous!

The show was great.  It was so good to see the girls in new roles.  I can’t believe it’s only the fifth year of this production.  The footage is spectacular.  It turns out that the Nikon is soft and overexposed, so that’s no good.

I love doing this show.  I overheard Christine talking about putting out an order sheet for the video, but it didn’t get done, as far as I could tell.  But what a great idea!  We would have done very well to have copies of the 2010 Nutcracker DVD for sale in the lobby and to take orders for the 2011 video.

After the show we all went to Positive Pie for pizza and I wound up spending $20 on the dinner.  I picked up a hitchhiker on the way home, someone I’ve  taken to Barre before.  Tonight was the third time I took him home .  I was playing Autotune the News and he got a big kick out of that.
