Working at the office

I’ve been working on the October wedding video this afternoon and evening.  It took me a while to get into it, because the first thing up was the introduction of the wedding party, which is a tricky thing to edit. But I started hacking away at it and got it going.

I had also tried to move the project onto the small drive, but Premiere doesn’t allow me to reset my scratch disks.  Then it, of course, lost all contact with the source clips.  When I tried to re-connect them it said that the audio didn’t match the version it had saved and so wouldn’t accept the connection to the clips in their new location.

Premiere is much more persnickety than FCP.  I am so bummed that Apple has discontinued their professional video editing app and replaced it with iMovie Pro.  I am struggling to do basic things in Pr, like change the balance of audio tracks.  And I can’t place markers on tracks, only on the sequence, so how am I to synch audio?

So I went back to FCP 5.1.4 to finish the wedding, because it’ll be faster for me to finish.  The only hitch in this plan is that I have half a sequence in Pr that isn’t in FCP.  I’ll have to deal with that…

I love the office.  I don’t want to go back to Cabot when I am done working here.
