So my computer has been running, but it is not happy. It’s not seeing a sensor, so the fans run at 6500RPM all the time, and the backlighting under the keyboard is not working. I have a feeling that those are related items somehow.
This poor old machine.
I parked the Pathfinder across the street from the Centennial Bulding early in the morning when I took Olivia to school (she went in late) at about 9:30. I left it there all day. When we came out at the end of the day there was a parking ticket from the HPD on the car! […]
So Steph went to the bathroom at about 2:35 AM and Errol got out of bed and went after her. He doesn’t usually do that. Next thing you know Errol is barfing all over the place. When there’s a break in the action, Errol, very unhappy, says, “Damn.” He has a spasm and says, “Damn.” […]
I heard my first Red-Wing Blackbird today! I had been to the dentist for a cleaning and when I stepped outside to walk home I hear it singing away. There is still al lot of snow on the ground here, nothing for the birds to eat.
Yes, today was Town Meeting day where I engineer two separate shoots at the same time. The big town gets the TV station’s three-camera, 8 mic, live switch setup that I put together at 7 AM, then I take my equipment to the smaller town to direct a two- camera, 5 mic, setup where I […]
Yesterday, I downgraded to 10.4, then back to 10.6.3, and it did start, I updated software back to 10.6.8 and after the last update it wouldn’t start. Bummer. This morning I booted into ‘Safe Boot’ mode and it did start, just like three days ago. I got nowhere, it seemed. Tonight after I got back […]
Signs of spring:
the huge show pile along the road is almost gone, the front yard is a mud-bottomed pond/puddle.
Errol and Olivia are playing outside in the back yard among the melting snow.
Saw ducks and geese flying around the Lamoille River.
Argh! I spent something like 5 hours trying different things to get my computer running. I booted into Single User Mode, which is the Unix terminal before the MacOS loads and used unix commands to move around and look at directory lists and the hard drive was fast and responsive. Then I ran the TOP […]
As if life weren’t hard enough, now my computer won’t start up. It gets to the window server but finder won’t load. I can’t do
any diagnostics because the optical disk won’t take DVDs. I did get it to boot in Safe Mode, so there’s that, but you can’t do anything with it.
So, fun!
What a nightmare! I just woke up from a dream where I was at a local Vermont event to pitch MemoirSite to local Vermont investors. The morning session started with breakfast and then everyone went to another room, but there weren’t seats enough for me. No one told me that this was a test session […]
Finally got to Norwich to hang the projector. It had been out for repair for months! I ran around there for about 3 hours. I swapped out the relays, found one that was melted, and refused the fiber projector. I relit the big canvas wall that they took down for conservation; I prelit the space […]
Wow. Ball game on Monday, Feb 11. Leif did that one as I had my meeting wile John K has the other camera at the Woodbury Select Board. Teusday had a boys game, which I did. Today was a girl’s game, tomorrow there’s a boys game and there’s another game on Saturday! The bad news […]
What could be better than to give a gift of MemoirSite to somebody who has a lot of stories to tell and knows that there are people in their family who would love to hear those stories.
Once it’s gone, it’s gone forever.
A HUGE blizzard crushed the NE states, and Alberta Clipper and a Nor’Easter collided over Massachusetts. Steph let the girls stay up late Thursday night because it was to hit Friday. But we live too far north for snow. The storm passed way to our south, school was open and we only got about […]
Sure is windy!
