Visit to the Stone Corral

The Prescott region Site Stewards had a field trip to the old Stone Corral. It used to be an inn along the General Crook Trail from Cottonwood to Prescott, AZ. We saw the remains of the corral, which was actually quite large, and the old root cellar. We walked on across Ash Creek, which was dry because it hadn’t rained in a long time. Over there there was an old arastra, a round grinding stone area, where they ground ore from the mine nearby. I had never been to this area before so  this was an interesting trip in many ways.
