Sighted a ship heading for NY. Some of us officers wanted to send wireless messages to our homes and the Captain will not let us do it, says he is not going to send any. This is something we had a message giving authority and encouraging it.

I had man attendant on report for gross disobedience of orders and Capt. only gave him three days in the brig. The officer calls for 2 years imprisonment and dishonorable discharge.

Later I found that the Capt. had the man’s record changed to read “slow in obeying etc”.
