Apr 13, 1918 – Reported once again

Saturday [He wrote all this down this page, but then copied the parts over into succeeding days}

Reported and got excused until Tuesday morning. Left New York 1:08 PM and in Wash. 10:30 PM.

Surprised the folks and had a dandy visit until Monday afternoon.

Saw Lt.Com. Root and told him how hings were going in New York and he went with me to Cmdr. Coke(?) and he said I could be ordered to sea from there. But for me to see Lt. Robertson who gave me a note to Lt. Merrill so that the whole thing is now bacvk to where it was. They want me to go in a big transport with a regular Mary Eugene(?). I go as Asst. and then Chief Engineer, when he is detached.

Drew $20 from Paymaster and some jr pay officer ***** as though it was out of his own pocket.
